Sad
Went to town today, walked past Greggs where several people were sitting eating while surrounded by a small flock of pigeons. There were two pigeons which at first seemed to be either mating or fighting, but on a closer look were actually stuck together somehow. The poor things were obiously in distress and had been there for some time while people just sat watching as if it was nothing to do with them. I can’t believe people are so callous, even to pigeons. I picked them up and saw they’d become caught in a piece of elastic, one around the leg and the other caught by the neck. With assistance from some kind people a pair scissors were found and the poor things were separated. One had died in the process, from shock probably but the other flew off to scavenge another day. Sad in many ways, the people doing nothing, the poor pigeons who were caught up and the boys who were saying ‘cool’ and thinking the whole thing was funny. Put a real downer on an otherwise pleasant day.
