Emergency Dins
Don’t know what to do when Sprog refuses the lovingly made din dins you have just produced, yet also refuses to eat anything from a jar?! Panic. That’s what… then make this at warp speed:
- Tin of tuna
- Big handful of rice (or pasta depending on how much your sprog likes to chew)
- Tin of tomatoes
- 1/4 tsp sugar
Using one hand (as for this recipe it is imperative that you carry Sprog for the whole time) open tins, drain tuna, try to avoid advances from Cat. Hurl all into saucepan while trying to placate belligerent child who will only eat porridge, stir angrily. Leave to boil then let simmer while you stew. Add water if it goes all dry looking. After approx 3 mins start singing “The Wheels on the Bus” while hoping that the rice will be cooked very soon. Eventually after about 10 mins it will be cooked-ish, children like it al dente anyway right? By this time you will have exhausted your repertoire of singing baby songs and may start to sing “Smoke on the Water” while blowing on the boiling red mixture. Spend the next few minutes frantically blowing, stirring and jigging sprog to avoid meltdown.
Serve.
Alternatively give in and feed Sprog the porridge he so desperately craves.
